New Egypt/ Bridgeport Speedway Recap

Pauch Racing Recap 4/17/17 Mandee Pauch Relations - April 17, 2017 – The ‘Kid’s Kid’ capped off the New Egypt Speedway opener Saturday night by earning his first victory of the season in the M&T Tree Service Inc. No. 96 Small-Block Modified. Pauch Jr.’s weekend began on Friday at Big Diamond Speedway in the Kid Racing No. 15 Small-Block Modified. Pauch Jr. finished sixth in his heat after starting dead last. “Friday night we got behind the eight ball,” noted Pauch. Starting sixteenth in the A Main, Pauch Jr. maneuvered his way through the field and into the top 10 by lap three before him and another driver got hooked, forcing him to the tail end of the field. “That wasn’t what I wanted to do and I wasn’t happy about it but we had a good car and definitely have something for the year at Big Diamond,” Pauch Jr. said. Pauch Jr. battled his way back through the field and rounded out the night with an eleventh place finish. Saturday’s event saw Pauch Jr. start seventh in his heat and finish third, placing him in the redraw. “We started seventh and had the lead by lap three,” Pauch Jr. said. “We had a couple of cautions but we were able to pull away from the rest of the field. “You always have worries about whether you lost some speed over the winter, so winning opening night always eases your worries.” Pauch Jr. was very pleased with his results on Saturday at New Egypt and is looking forward to the rest of the season. Billy Pauch Sr. showed to be a strong contender Saturday at Bridgeport Speedway for their season opener. Pauch Sr. started eighth in the heat and finished fourth, putting him in the redraw. Pauch Sr. rolled onto the track in eighth place and was running in the top ten when he got a right rear flat forcing him to go pit-side. Pauch Sr. ended the night with a DNF. “We were going forward until we got a flat tire,” Pauch Sr. said. “I felt we were pretty good. We need to get a little bit better.” Pauch Sr. noted it was his first time in ten years missing New Egypt Speedway’s season opener. “It was kind of different going to Bridgeport after ten years straight at New Egypt. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to running as much as I can there. I actually had a good time other than getting a flat tire.” Pauch Sr. is scheduled to be back in action this Sunday at Bridgeport Speedway for the Short Track Super Series. Pauch Jr. will be back at Big Diamond Speedway this Friday, New Egypt Speedway on Saturday and Bridgeport Speedway on Sunday.
